The following article is a more in depth explanation of each of the comparisons listed in the chart.

Headset Prices Compared

Both of these VR gaming headsets cost around 300 dollars or so, but that price gets you a different amount of equipment depending on which headset you purchase.

The Oculus Quest 2 headset has two different types, one smaller and one larger. The smaller headset is able to house 128 gigabytes of data, so it can hold a smaller amount of gaming data.

Oculus Quest 2 vs PSVR Headset Prices Compared

This headset costs $299, and you get a headset that’s ready to be played right out of the box.

The larger headset in the Oculus Quest 2 series is able to hold 256 GB of data, so it can hold significantly more gaming data. The larger one does cost more, but there’s only a 100 dollar difference with the larger one costing $399.

After you purchase the headset, you get access to a plethora of free virtual reality games.

The PSVR headset only comes in one size, but you can get the entire bundle of everything you need to play virtual reality games for $349, or about $200 more if you upgrade to the PSVR2 model.

The bundle includes the headset, two controllers, a playstation camera, and one free virtual reality game. But even though this headset is a little less expensive than the larger Oculus Quest headset, it won’t work unless you have a playstation 4 or 5 console.

If you already own one of the above consoles, then you’ll be able to use the headset. But if not, then the total cost of having a PSVR can range anywhere from 500 dollars to 900 dollars.

So overall, the Oculus Quest 2 headset is the better priced headset of the two.

Headset Compatibility Compared

Compatibility refers to how compatible the headset is to different computers, laptops, and other devices. It also refers to how much extra equipment you might need to connect the virtual reality headset to other devices.

Oculus Quest 2 vs PSVR Headset Features Compared

How Compatible is the Quest 2?

The Oculus Quest 2 is considered one of the most compatible virtual reality headsets on the market.

It’s able to support all games and software without any extra equipment, such as wires or cables, so you can play any game you want as soon as you take it out of the box.

The headset is also able to connect to the majority of PCs wirelessly, meaning you don’t need to plug in a wire from the headset to the computer.

Wireless connections have plenty of benefits, but the main one is safety. The majority of virtual reality games require you to move around the room, and wires can present a trip hazard.

But since the Oculus Quest 2 doesn’t need any wires, you don’t have to worry about that.

The main caveat with the compatibility of an Oculus Quest 2 is that you need a Facebook account in order to log in. There isn’t a way around this, but it’s the only information you need to use the Oculus Quest 2.

If you already have a Facebook account or are fine with getting one, then the Oculus Quest 2 is extremely compatible.

A PSVR Won’t Offer the Same Compatibility

The only device that a PSVR is compatible with is a Playstation four or five console. The headset uses a USB wired adapter to connect the processor box to the console, and it needs to remain plugged in for the duration of your playing time.

This means that you will either need to already own a Playstation four or five console, or purchase one in addition to the headset.

When it comes to compatibility, the Oculus Quest 2 is definitely more compatible than the PSVR headset.

Headset Features Compared

Both of the headsets come with more than just the headsets when you order them. The Oculus Quest 2 comes with a variety of features that you get for free, and features you can purchase separately to improve your virtual reality experience.

You also get a variety of features with the PSVR, but there aren’t many separate features you can purchase to improve the experience.

Oculus Quest 2 vs PSVR Headset Features Compared

Quest 2 Features (what you get, what you don’t)

Some of the features that come with the Oculus Quest 2 headset are controllers, a charger, and a glasses spacer for players that wear glasses.

The controllers are designed to track your hand movements so you can use your hands in game like you would in real life.

The audio and display features are also some of the best on the market, with adjustable high resolution graphics and speakers that are built into the headset. All of these features are included for free.

But there are also some Oculus Quest 2 features that you can purchase if you want to improve the experience.

For the headset itself, you can get plenty of licensed accessories ranging from carrying cases, battery packs to extend playing time, and customizable facial interface kits.

You can also improve the headset’s audio experience by getting officially licensed audio accessories and features.

With so many extra features, there are multiple different ways you can customize your virtual reality experience with the Oculus Quest 2 headset.

Playstation VR Features (what you get, what you don’t)

When you receive the PSVR headset, you also get the following features:

  • A processing unit
  • HDMI and USB cables
  • Stereo earbuds
  • AC adaptor/power cord and a PS VR headset connection adaptor

But other than that, there aren’t many extra audio, headset, or controller features that you can purchase to improve the experience. The only other features that can be purchased are required to make the headset function properly.

These features include the playstation camera, two playstation move controllers, and a playstation four or five console. These can rack up the total cost of getting the PSVR headset significantly, and they don’t really improve the experience much.

Headset Quality Compared

When it comes to the quality of these headsets, the Oculus Quest 2 is definitely higher quality.

The PSVR headset does have some exclusive games that aren’t available on any other virtual reality headset, but most of the nonexclusive games can also be found on the Oculus Quest 2.

Oculus Quest 2 vs PSVR Headset Quality Compared

The Oculus Quest 2 is made of lightweight but extremely durable material, and the headset comes with an adjustable strap to ensure it fits comfortably over your head.

Furthermore, the graphics and audio quality are some of the best available on the virtual reality market. The graphics resolution is 1832 x 1920, so the graphics are crystal clear and appear very sharp.

The audio is also incredibly high quality, and comes through the built in speakers of the headset. The speakers also go over your ears, meaning they don’t have to touch your ears in order for you to hear high quality sound.

On the other hand, the technology that was used to make the PSVR is incredibly out of date, which is why I recommend the PSVR2 if you want to go with Playstation.

The sound, controllers, and graphics quality aren’t bad, but they are not nearly as high quality as the Oculus Quest 2. So overall, the Oculus Quest 2 is much higher quality than the PSVR headset.

PSVR vs Oculus Quest 2 Comparison (a summary)

If you are the type of player that wants a stand alone headset that’s very compatible and high quality, then the Oculus Quest 2 is the best option for you.

PSVR vs Oculus Quest 2 Comparison

The PSVR headset is not a bad headset, and can work very well if you already have a playstation 4 or 5 console. But if you don’t, then the Oculus Quest 2 is the best headset you can purchase.
